How to Get Started

Step 1: Book a No Sweat Intro

This will give you a chance to see our gym, meet our coaches, and get a general feel for Cranbrook Crossfit. This is your time to ask questions about CrossFit, types of workout/movements we do, services offered, and/or anything else you’d like to know. Typically these meetings are less than 30 minutes and are one on one with our friendly and knowledgeable coaches. If you left your No Sweat Intro feeling motivated and excited than its time for step two.


Step 2: Complete the Fundamentals Course

This prep Course is required for all members who are planning to attend our Crossfit classes. Prep Course consists of 3 private one on one session with a coach. During your sessions you will learn the basics of CrossFit fundamental movements and proper lifting techniques. We require the Fundamentals Course to ensure you know the basics of lifting techniques, establish your lifting ability, physical baseline, avoid injuries, and work out effectively. If you do not want to do the Fundamentals Course at this time, but still want to join. You have the option to attend our BodyFit classes (see below). After you decided which type of classes you want, and are ready for membership move on to step three.


Step 3: Choose a Membership

You can sign up for membership by speaking to any one of our coaches. Not at the Gym? No problem. Contact us here, we would be more than happy to assist you!


Once you have completed the FUNDAMENTALS COURSE (course for beginners) you can take part in any of the CrossFit group classes. Group training is excellent for motivation and you will always push harder training together than what you will training alone..

A typical CrossFit class will consist of the following:

  • Warm up

  • Skill/Strength work

  • Talk through the WOD with scaling options

  • WOD – workout of the day

Remember, the WOD is scalable to your ability/skill level so no matter what, you always get a good stimulating workout. Our coaching team with make sure you are moving well and working within your current level of fitness.

A BodyFit workout has the same principles as a regular CrossFit (see above) class (Constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement) except we will focus mainly on Metabolic Conditioning (Met Con) and body weight movements. This class is a great introduction to what a regular CrossFit workout would be like.

Bodyfit is geared towards those who:

  • Are intimidated by any of the notions they have of CrossFit.

  • Have had lengthy layoffs from a fitness program and want to start getting back into fitness with a “jogging” start.

  • Want to work on cardiovascular system, body awareness, and athleticism before focusing on strength or power.

If you’re not big on the group the class atmosphere we have the perfect option! Our Private Training program is for those looking to get that special one on one attention.

Step 3:

Start with Personal Training

Joining a gym can be intimidating for anyone. That’s why we specialize in 1-on-1 personal training. We customize your workouts to match your goals and current capabilities.

Step 4:

Stay Accountable with Goal Setting Sessions

So you’re 4 weeks in and you’ve lost 5lbs of fat – now what? In your Goal Setting Sessions, you’ll map out the next steps of your fitness journey with your coach
